It is impossible to walk in this life and not experience getting hurt by the actions of others- from strangers, associates even those whom we love. While it is impossible to escape such pain, it is possible as well as our responsibility to forgive those who are at the root of that trauma.
If we’re being honest about it, we inherently are not so quick to forgive others. We somehow believe that holding on to our grudge is what gives us power over them. We believe that if we forgive somebody, that we are somehow being spiritually forced to relinquish our power and to give that person permission to hurt us all over again.
My friends, forgiveness is not about relinquishing your power, rather, it is about realizing your power. When you forgive someone, you are not only sharing the same grace that God gave to you, you are also giving yourself permission to heal.
Secondly, when you prioritize holding on to your grudge and do not forgive others, God will hold onto your blessings and not forgive you. In the scriptures, Jesus says it like this: “forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”. Notice that God forgiving you and blessing you is dependent upon your ability-your willingness to forgive others. Guys, I’m not sure about you, but I have already made up in my mind that nobody is worth any of the blessings I’m standing in line for. I need my forgiveness.
Friends, I believe God has great things in store for you. Big blessings that you’ve been believing for. God wants to open doors for you and set you on your path to success. Don’t let your grudge become your judge. Don’t allow the attitude un-forgiveness delay your God-given opportunities. Don’t let bitterness become the fragrance that goes before you. Rather extend the same measure of grace that God has extended to you. I believe that when you do this, you are going to see a swift answer to your prayers, you will begin to heal from the trauma, and you will experience a season of unexplainable blessings!
